报告题目:Investigations on quantum magnets---quantum-spin-liquid candidates and topological magnons

摘要:Quantum spin liquids (QSLs) represent a novel state of matter in which the spins do not order even down to zero temperature due to strong quantum fluctuations. In this talk, I will show our recent works on two QSL candidates, α-RuCl3 and YbZnGaO4, resulting from measurements utilizing various techniques. We find that the celebrated Kitaev interaction is realized inα-RuCl3, and an external magnetic field may drive the system into a QSL state [1-3], while YbZnGaO4 is not a QSL, but a spin glass instead [4].
In the last part of the talk, I will briefly discuss our very recent discovery of topological magnons in a three-dimensional antiferromagnet Cu3TeO6 by showing the topological magnon band structure, obtained from inelastic neutron scattering measurements [5]. The results are analogous to those in topological semimetals measured by angle-resolved-photoemission spectroscopy.

报告人简介
温锦生,南京大学物理学院教授、博导。2005年清华大学本科毕业;2010年纽约州立大学石溪分校博士毕业;2006-2010年在布鲁克海文国家实验室进行博士阶段研究;2010年至2012年加州大学伯克利分校博士后;2013年被聘为南京大学教授、博导。长期从事电子强关联材料,特别是铜、铁基等高温超导材料及量子自旋液体的单晶生长及中子散射研究。已在Science、 Nature及其子刊、PRL等期刊发表论文近百篇,总引用次数近3000次,H因子28。获得过“中国优秀留学生”、“教育部新世纪优秀人才”、“江苏省特聘教授”、“江苏省双创人才”等奖项荣誉。承担多项国家、省部级研究项目。
